Cookie Policy
Last updated:
This page explains what cookies and similar storage technologies are, and exactly which ones (if any) run on yachthiremarbella.com when you browse our fleet, check day rates, or send an enquiry for a charter out of Marbella. It is written for anyone visiting the site, whether you're comparing the Benetti Oasis 40 against a sport-yacht for a run to Estepona or just reading up before you book.
Storage used on this site
- Cookie-notice flag (local storage, yachthiremarbella.com)
- Remembers that you closed the cookie notice; stays on your device until you clear browser storage yourself.
- Selected yacht (session storage, yachthiremarbella.com)
- Holds the yacht you clicked so the enquiry form opens pre-filled; deleted when you close the tab or send the form.
- Visitor/session identifiers (local storage, yachthiremarbella.com)
- Random IDs used only for our own visit counting; expire 30 days after your last visit and can be cleared at any time.
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com)
- Loads the typefaces shown on the page; Google receives your IP address as part of that request. No cookie is set for us.
- intl-tel-input script via jsDelivr CDN
- Loads the phone-number formatting used in the enquiry form; jsDelivr receives your IP address as part of that request. No cookie is set for us.
- WhatsApp (wa.me / api.whatsapp.com)
- Only contacted once you tap a WhatsApp button on the site; nothing is loaded or stored here before that click.
1. Cookies and similar technologies, briefly
A cookie is a small text file a website can leave on your device to recognise you on a later visit. Local storage and session storage work the same way but sit inside the browser rather than in a dedicated cookie file; a tracking pixel or script can achieve something similar by quietly loading from another company's server. All of these are capable of identifying a device or a browsing session, which is why Spanish law treats them alike and asks us to tell you what we use and why.
This policy is issued under Law 34/2002, which governs information-society services and electronic commerce (LSSI-CE), specifically Article 22.2, requiring that we get your consent before placing any non-essential cookie or similar device, and that we explain what is placed even when it is essential or exempt.
2. What this site does not do
Yacht Hire Marbella sets no cookies of its own, and no outside analytics tool, advertising pixel or social-media widget is installed anywhere on yachthiremarbella.com. We do not sell data, profile visitors for ads, or hand browsing data to any marketing network.
To understand how the site is performing, we run a small first-party script served from our own domain. It records, for each visit:
- pages viewed and time spent on each page
- the referring website and any campaign parameters in the link, such as a UTM tag or an ad click id
- device type, browser, operating system and screen size
- browser language and the country worked out from the IP address, without storing the IP address itself
If you send an enquiry or tap a phone or WhatsApp link, that action is linked to the same visit so we know which channel it came from, which helps us answer enquiries through the right route. This script writes two things to local storage on your device: a random visitor identifier and a random session identifier, both of which expire 30 days after your last visit and contain no name, email or phone number.
3. What's stored on your device
Besides the two visit-counting identifiers above, the site stores two small, functional items:
- a local-storage flag that simply remembers you closed the cookie notice, so it doesn't pop up on every page
- a session-storage entry that remembers which yacht you clicked on the fleet page, so the enquiry form can open with that yacht already selected; it is removed automatically when you close the tab or submit the form
None of these entries hold your name, contact details, or anything from the enquiry form itself.
4. Requests sent to other services
A couple of page elements are loaded from outside servers rather than from yachthiremarbella.com directly:
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used across the site; loading them sends your IP address to Google as part of that network request
- the jsDelivr content delivery network supplies the intl-tel-input script that formats the phone-number field in our enquiry form; loading it sends your IP address to jsDelivr
Neither of these sets a cookie on our behalf; they are purely delivering a font file or a script. WhatsApp buttons on the site behave differently again: nothing is contacted and nothing is stored here until you actually tap the button, at which point WhatsApp opens and the conversation continues on Meta's platform under WhatsApp's own privacy terms, outside our control.
5. Managing storage and future changes
Every modern browser lets you view, block or delete local storage, session storage and cookies, usually under its privacy or site-settings menu, and you can clear yachthiremarbella.com specifically without affecting other sites. Blocking storage may stop the enquiry form from remembering a selected yacht or keep the cookie notice reappearing, but it will not prevent you from browsing the fleet or sending an enquiry.
If we ever introduce an optional cookie, for a feature like saved searches or a chat widget, we will ask for your consent beforehand and update this page to describe it plainly, with no retroactive placement before you agree.
Questions about this policy, or about how your data is handled generally, can be sent to [email protected]. Spain's data-protection regulator, the AEPD, publishes further guidance and a complaints channel at www.aepd.es if you feel an issue hasn't been resolved.
